Remember back in high school the pretty boy or girl who always kept chapped stick? They knew the importance of keeping moisturize lips. Lip balms are obviously made to correct dry lips. You don’t need to overcoat the lips with it though. Just apply just a thin coat of lip balm. Also, due to the lips’ sensitivity to the sun, it is vital to get one that at least SPF 15.

Stop licking your lips

Contrary to popular believe, licking your lips is not a great way to moisturize them. As a matter of fact, it is more detrimental than beneficial. Since lips hardly have in protection, adding moisture that quickly fade actually make the lips dry sooner.

In addition, licking your lips exposes them to saliva. While saliva is great for breaking down food, it also can break down lip skin cells.

Stop breathing out of your mouth

Do you breathe from your mouth instead of your nose? Like licking or biting your lips, breathing out of your mouth is detrimental to lip health. Constantly breathing out air on the lips makes them dry. In addition, breathing with your mouth causes other issues such as bad breath, dry mouth and sleep apnea.
